The race yesterday went very well. It was great weather. We started on broadway and 4th near the double decker McDonalds, up Broadway, down Grinstead, back up Lexington and finished behind Slugger Field in front of the waterfront park. Kevin Crabtree and his girlfriend Cindy ran with us. Us being Shelby and I. Creeden is out in Arizona for spring training. He will be back for the 10 miler in two weeks, but Shelby doesn't know if she will be running.
With just about a month left until the Mini I feel like I'm ready. These next few weeks will allow me to up my endurance and work on my intervals. Yesterday's race I kept about a 9 min mile pace for the first two miles. Then I sped up to a pretty fast pace for the rest of the race. I don't know what my splits were for each mile, but it had to of been the best I've run yet. By the end, my legs still felt strong and my breathing was still controlled. I guess I could've pushed harder the last mile or two, but no need to risk injury. I need to stick with the training schedule and keep a gradual increase in pace as the mini approaches. So far my body is holding together, nothing is sore, nothing hurts - I want to keep it that way.
Side note: I was very upset that the photographers from the 5k didn't take any pictures of me, so for the 10k I made sure that ran in front of and posed for every photographer I saw. I know for a fact that one took at least 10 pictures of me. I will post pics when the are up on the race's website.

First off, congrats on your training program and for sticking with it. What discipline you show. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteSecond of all, when you write stuff about being a fan of Louisville and not such a fan of Edgar Sosa, please keep in mind what your sister does as a profession and realize that she deals with fans like you all the time and that sometimes fans say things that are hurtful to the student-athlete, coaching staff and administration. Even though it may be the heat of the moment or because of their great passion for a particular school or program, fans need to realize we are all doing our jobs and we don't come into your home and tell you how to do yours!
I understand your frustration with the kid and maybe the program, but please keep your big sister in mind when you punch holes in your walls. Do you want someone punching holes in his wall over I decision I make when it comes to an athletic program?
Oh and thirdly, thanks for being considerate of your 6 followers ... I have been eagerly waiting an updated entry!!!
